Choose Life

A Pro-life song of compassion and love to encourage young mothers.

by Peter Fernandez

Chorus:

Choose Life!
It will be all right
Choose Life!
We’ll be by your side.

There is hope and grace for every soul

From the very first day.

There is beauty in every child

So let’s rejoice and smile.

And give every life in the womb

The right to be born and to live.

There is plenty of love and room & loving people to help you with the Truth

No need to be afraid

We’re with you all the way, Choose life!

Verse I:

You can give the greatest gift of life

Even if it’s not what we expected.

Everything will be all right

And every life deserves to be respected.

Because the baby who is growing in your tummy

Will be so cute and funny and beautiful
And unique, just like you are.
He or she is who we want to meet. Choose life!
(Chorus)
Verse II:
Life is so special and precious,
And we were all such little, little ones.
Let them see the light of day!
Yes, we who see the sun.
For our daughters and our sons,
Adoption is an awesome option.
There is someone to love every baby,
Trust in Love; trust in goodness and love, Choose life!
Bridge:
You don’t need to go through
Something that will hurt you
When your baby just wants to live.
And we, who know the Truth,
Make sure everyone knows, too.
Every day and night,
Shine your light for life.

Trapped Mice

By Allison Parssi

We are boxed in,
Boxed in a house
Where we can’t communicate with the outside world,
Where we can’t think of anything to do.

There are only walls,
Except for to small windows.
Walls keep creative thoughts out,
But the windows,
The windows let in the little bit of life we need to survive this place.

We are mice in a maze
Trying to find the cheese.
We pace back and forth,
Back and forth…

There is nothing to do,
Nowhere to go,
No one to see.
We long to connect with someone other than ourselves.

So we sit,
In this box,
Trapped,
For what seems like an eternity.

Asking

By Allison Parssi

The first thing to go was my music
All my music, gone
And all for a book
It was pretty stupid.

I know I overreacted
A little bit was because I didn’t want here to read it
But mostly it was because she didn’t ask
She took something from my room without asking.

My friends even ask if they can look at my books
Even just to flip through them
My sister, though, waltzes in and takes a book
A book that I paid for and has my name in it.

Again, I overreacted
I was possessed by a monster
A monster that didn’t want to discuss it calmly
But one that wanted to go to her room and be left alone.

Because of that stupid monster
I’m grounded
G-R-O-U-N-D-E-D
Grounded for a month.

I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been grounded
This is the first time I’ve really been grounded
The first two times, they took things away I could live without
But this time, they took away the one thing I can’t live without
My music.

Once that was gone
The whole book thing
Seemed pretty stupid and selfish
Actually, it was stupid and selfish
After the fiasco, I gave the book back for my sister to read

Now I’m here
With a finished poem
To get back my life, my music
All because I overreacted.
